Thorneloe & Co was started by Michael Thorneloe in 1989 initially from a small office in Charing for a few months and then from the firm’s present address 22 High Street  Lenham  Kent.  Initially we practiced in all areas of the law except crime but as the profession has become increasingly specialised our main fields of practice now are property law (general conveyancing, commercial conveyancing and leases), Wills, Probate and Trusts.

We are glad to give preliminary estimates of costs in conveyancing and other property transactions.

We believe that everyone should have a Will and again we shall happily give an indication of the costs of this.

We offer a free initial consultation for up to half-an-hour upon most legal topics and not only the areas of work indicated above.

Our office is located in the attractive village setting of Lenham half-way between Maidstone and Ashford.  Parking is usually not a problem and is free of charge.  The office is not, unfortunately, “disabled friendly” and cannot be adapted.  We are, however, always prepared to visit clients’ homes within a reasonable radius of the office if this is necessary.

All work here is done by qualified solicitors and our staff are knowledgeable and go out of their way to be helpful whenever possible.

Michael Thorneloe qualified as a solicitor in 1974 having been articled first to a firm in Central London and then to his father’s firm in South London.  On qualifying he joined a firm in Sittingbourne Kent where he soon became a Partner and where he stayed for seventeen years.  After a brief unhappy Partnership elsewhere he started Thorneloe & Co in 1989.

Michael Thorneloe is married with three grownup children and lives locally.   He was delighted when his daughter Harriet joined the Practice in July 2007.

Harriet Thorneloe trained and worked as a solicitor in Petersfield, Hampshire for four years before joining Michael in 2007. She is a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  She lives locally and has two young children.
